I have saved the best of this New Beers Eve for last apparently. In an unexpected turn of events, the other day I found a place in Madrid which actually carries Sam Adams Utopias. I had to pre-order it and it was one of two remaining ones, but I managed to get my hands on it to share tonight with some friends.
The 2012 edition of this specialty beer hits a spectacular 29%ABV and does so very elegantly, with incredibly complex tastes after having done time in several types of wine and hard liquor casks.
It has a reputation of being one of the best beers around.
Just a few minutes to go for this one but I can't wait.
