Honourable mention: Mahou Barrica Original

We're inaugurating a new segment of brief posts, dedicated to beers which, although maybe not worth a full review, are still an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

What: Oak aged lager brewed by Mahou-San Miguel, with a 6.1% ABV.

Slow and steady applause for Mahou. They deserve it. Obviously this is no Innis and Gunn (nor does it aspire to be), but it's really easy to drink. Restrained but noticeable American oak flavor and aroma (coconut, vanilla...), sweet malty backbone and bitterness to balance. This is going to be a gateway drug for a lot of Spaniards into craft and oaked beers. Well played Mahou, well played.
