Two of my favorite things in the world are coming together this month at Citi Field... and no, the Mets are of course not one of them. I'm talking about bacon and beer, happily joined in a glorious event called the Bacon and Beer Classic.

This event, held at Major League Baseball stadiums across the USA, combines great craft beer, bacon inspired and related dishes, live music and games for an experience that's sure to make your left arm antsy and your chest hurt, but will definitely leave you with a big grin on your face.

The one at Citi Field will host breweries like Bronx Brewery, Brewery Ommegang, Green Flash, Lagunitas, Southern Tier or the Brooklyn Brewery (the full line-up can be found here) and restaurants like the Strip House, Le Rivage, Redwood Deli and the Jolly Monk, among many others.

There will be two sessions, the first one, a brunch session, will see the doors open at midday (one hour earlier for VIP ticket holders) and close at 3 pm, while the second session will take place during the evening, from 7 pm to 10 pm.

The cost of each session is $59 for general admission tickets and $129 for VIP tickets, although you can still get them from Living Social for $49 and $109 respectively. The tickets are all inclusive, so tasting glass, drinks, food, music, educational sessions and games are all included in the admission cost. The VIP tickets offer an additional hour and access to a VIP area with cooling stations and exclusive treats and beers. The designated driver tickets include the same things as the general admission tickets except for one vital aspect: the alcohol.

As mentioned, other activities outside of bacon eating and craft beer drinking will include educational sessions about beer, live concerts and a bunch of interactive games. It's a shame I'm gonna miss it by just a couple days, it sounds like a great load of artery clogging fun.
