Madrid, Spain, February 1st: Festival Aniversario Cervezorama

What: Craft beer festival
Where: Madrid, Spain (La Buena Pinta, 41 Calle Embajadores)
When: February 1st (12pm- 11pm)
How much: Admission is free

Cervezorama, one of Madrid's best stocked specialty beer stores and co-creators of the Guinea Pigs beers, will be celebrating its third year anniversary this Saturday. For this purpose they have organized what looks to be one of the most international beer festivals in Madrid up to date.

Taking place in the Mercado de San Fernando, the festival will host some of the best craft brewers from across Europe, who will share the space, not only with fishmongers, butchers and greengrocers (after all it is a market), but also with home-made food stands, bars, shops and lots of music.

The basic gist of the thing is this. Entrance is free, but beers will range between €1,5 and €4,5 each. In order to be able to drink them though, you will have to buy the official glass of the event, at a cost of €2, and trade your cash in for chips (each chip will be worth €1,5). Both the glass and the chips can be bought in advance at Cervezorama (29 Calle de San AndrĂ©s), or through their online store.

There will be ten different taps overflowing with beer at La Buena Pinta, whose detail you can find here.

The fun however does not end there for beer geeks, as there will be a bunch of special guests in attendance (which I for one am very excited to meet), like Mike Murphy from Lervig, John Brus from De Molen, Richard Burhouse from Magic Rock or Evin O'Riordain from The Kernel.

The festival will span from midday to 11 pm, when the market closes and we will have to take our craft boozing elsewhere (which we will).

Update: The official after-party will take place at Irreale (15 Calle Ballesta) from 10pm and will include a presentation by Jonh Brus from De Molen and a few surprises on tap. It's gonna be a long day so you better come well rested.
